Despite billions of dollars towards development of food industry, prices keep skyrocketing in Uzbekistan

Over the past three years, Uzbekistan has channelled over $2.7bn of loans towards the development of the food industry, animal husbandry and agriculture. Projects worth $1bn were implemented in the livestock sector alone. These reforms should have had a positive impact on market prices. But ordinary people continue to complain about harsh times, with the prices for basic products skyrocketing. These issues were on agenda of a regular video conference chaired by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on October 16.
