The Ukrainian airliner was shot down in Iran in January due to human error, and not by order of the top military leadership, Tasnim news Agency reported on Monday, citing the military Prosecutor of the province of Tehran, Gholam Abbas Torki.

There is no indication that the plane was shot down because of a cyber attack on Iran’s missile or air defense systems, Torquay said, adding that three people are in custody in connection with the crash.

Iran said in January that its military shot down a Ukrainian passenger plane by mistake while on high alert after missile strikes on American targets in Iraq. There were 176 people on Board, all of them were killed.
