The US plans to provide financial assistance to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to combat the threat of coronavirus. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the statement of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
According to Pompeo, China’s neighbors such as Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan do not have the necessary infrastructure to counter the virus.
“We are concerned that there are places without adequate infrastructure (to protect against the virus). I was in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, places with long borders with China, who also don’t have the capability to handle any kind of scaled threat from something like coronavirus,” he said.
“We have already allocated $100 million aid. May be more. This aid will certainly go to China to help them, but it will be also used in other places in the world…”
