Uzbekistan still continues forced labor practice in cotton harvest

Cases of forced labor in the cotton harvest have been revealed in the Tashkent region. Violations were detected in 17 neighborhoods, 12 enterprises and organizations. This was announced at a press conference dedicated to the analysis of the current cotton harvest season.

According to the provided information, some districts even didn`t pay for the harvest.

Nine districts of the Tashkent region are currently growing cotton on 73 thousand hectares of land.

Currently, there are 1,494 farms and seven cotton-growing clusters in the Tashkent region.

It is expected that the crop volume will reach 230 thousand tons by the end of the year.

President Mirziyoyev during his address within the framework of the 75th General Assembly of the UN announced that Uzbekistan has eradicated the forced and labor in the country.
